Movement and your release Marker

The delay of movement/reward after saying our release marker “break” allows for a more reliable behavior because the dog understands what they did to receive the reward.

Your dog won’t stay in command?

Well it could be because you don’t have a consistent signal/marker they’re waiting for. Dogs need to know why they’re delaying instant gratification when you walk away or when there’s distractions.

Think about why we stop at red lights and how we know it’s safe to go, even when the person next to us has a false start. Make this release signal consistent while your body language changes so your dog will stay until they get their green light.

Say your marker and THEN reach into the cookie jar🙃
