Grassroots K9 was founded in 2013 by Alison and Michael Nezbeth. Their shared passion for working dogs, obedience training, and behavior modification led them to create a company dedicated to providing high-level dog training for a wide range of needs. Initially focusing on obedience training and behavior modification, Grassroots K9 quickly expanded into sport training and specialized working dog programs, including police dog training.

From the beginning, Alison and Michael emphasized the importance of building a strong bond between dog and handler, prioritizing clear communication and mutual respect. Their vision was to create a training approach that would benefit not only working dogs but also family pets, helping dogs achieve their potential regardless of their role.

One of the unique aspects of Grassroots K9 is its emphasis on personalized training programs tailored to each dog's specific needs. Whether addressing problem behaviors, enhancing obedience, or preparing dogs for a career in law enforcement, the team has remained dedicated to helping dogs achieve their full potential.

As the company expanded, it opened additional locations across North America, establishing partnerships with skilled trainers in Maryland, Ottawa, Georgina, Windsor, GTA, and Sarasota. Today, Grassroots K9 continues to offer high-quality training programs, with a growing reputation in the dog training community for its expertise in working dog sports and behavior rehabilitation.

Every Grassroots K9 trainer completes over 350 hours of intensive apprenticeship before joining our team, ensuring they bring a well-rounded, professional skillset to every session. Our trainers continue to grow through ongoing education, constantly evolving to stay at the forefront of dog training.
